We offer wire feed laser welding on parts that weigh under 5 lbs. Successful joining of 303 SS can be accomplished by adding filler material. At left is an assembly we machine and laser weld using wire feed. Accurate positioning of the part is accomplished by robot. There is a total of 20 joints that are welded.  Part shrinkage is not noticeable using the laser weld since the part stays relatively cool.

This is a close up of a 3/16" diameter x .022 wall tube joined to a 3/8" diameter x .025 wall tube. The weld is closed and runs entirely around the tube. There is no distortion to the inside of the tube. After tooling and programming has been paid, production runs can be done for about $2.50 per weld.
